Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced plans to establish an ultramodern learning, research, and innovation center known as the “Legacy Project,” aimed at advancing its health service delivery and maintaining its status as a leader in medical progress. The facility, estimated to cost US$18 million, is expected to be completed within the next two years.
The Legacy Project will feature conferencing facilities, research hubs, and learning spaces designed to enhance staff skills and integrate contemporary techniques in quality care. This initiative was revealed by Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, CEO of KBTH, during the climax of the hospital’s inaugural “Health Fest and Photo Exhibition” in Accra.
The three-day event, part of KBTH’s centenary celebration, showcased the hospital’s journey and achievements, featuring over 50 exhibitors and offering free medical screenings, networking opportunities, and forums on modern health issues. Dr. Ampomah highlighted the importance of innovation in ensuring the hospital’s relevance and excellence in healthcare.
The CEO also emphasized the hospital’s commitment to improving patient satisfaction through a new feedback system and urged the media to present a balanced view of Korle-Bu, acknowledging that negative portrayals can undermine public confidence and impact health-seeking behaviour.
Dr. Ampomah reiterated the hospital’s dedication to maintaining excellence and called on the public to support Korle-Bu, framing it as a national asset that belongs to everyone.
